With a playoff win on the line, Hernando rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Clinton Arrows with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 15 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hernando got a great performance from Olivia Skinner as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
At the plate, Kennedy Bergeron was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Graycin Higginbotham, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
The win (which was Hernando's ninth in a row) raised their record to 27-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Clinton, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-13 record.
As of now, neither Hernando nor the Arrows have any future games scheduled.
