Baseball Recap: Corry's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Corry dropped their record down to 6-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 7-3 to the Fairview Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in April.

Corry got a good showing from Roo Hellyer, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Hellyer is becoming a predictor of the Beavers' success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Kamdyn Moon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Karson Chamberlin was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

As for Fairview, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victory was nothing new for Fairview as they're now sitting on four straight.

On Fairview's side, the team relied heavily on Liam Hermann, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Hermann a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Stevens, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Corry is set to take on their familiar foe Northwestern at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fairview will face off against rival North East at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Tigers have won four straight at home, while the Grape Pickers won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
