Basketball Game Preview: Marathon Dolphins vs. Wildwood Wildcats

The Marathon Dolphins will face off against the Wildwood Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Marathon sitting on four straight wins and Wildwood on 21.

Marathon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Moore Haven by a score of 58-50.

Marathon can attribute much of their success to Daysi Williams, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards, and Marti'Yana Kilbourn, who went 8 of 14 en route to 17 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Marathon is 9-3 when Kilbourn posts three or more steals, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Eubank, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 assists.

Marathon was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Wildwood faced Williston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Wildwood blew past Williston, posting a 68-40 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 28 points or more this season.

Marathon's record now sits at 10-7. As for Wildwood, they pushed their record up to 21-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
