Football Recap: Zanesville Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Zanesville had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies on Friday, falling 70-26. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Ryan Sager had an outrageously good game for Johnstown-Monroe as he rushed for 176 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Sager a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Tyler Sheets, who rushed for 52 yards and a pair of scores.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zanesville will take on Clear Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they will square off against Centerburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
