Softball Recap: Abilene Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dripping Springs, Abilene was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the San Angelo Central Bobcats get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

The team relied heavily on Makayla Gutierrez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 15 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Andria Starks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Gutierrez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Abilene kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. Abilene is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Abilene's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.63 hits in those games compared to only 5.1 in the others. As for San Angelo Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

When Abilene and San Angelo Central next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose.
