Basketball Recap: Reed Sims Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mckinley over Jackson

After flying high against Green last Tuesday, McKinley came back down to earth. The McKinley Bulldogs fell just short of the Jackson Polar Bears by a score of 74-71 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (70), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

McKinley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reed Sims Jr, who went 9 for 21 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Chavers, who went 6 of 15 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

McKinley's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 14-5. As for Jackson, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Looking ahead, McKinley is taking a road trip to square off against Hoover at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. McKinley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Jackson, they will host Green at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Green has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Jackson will come in with five straight victories.
