Volleyball Recap: Ridgefield Comes Up Short

Ridgefield and New Canaan squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Ridgefield had to settle for second. They came up short against the Rams, falling 3-0. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Ridgefield ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, Ridgefield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adam Swiergosz had 28 assists and four digs. Swiergosz has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more assists the last 13 times he's played.

Ridgefield now has a losing record of 9-10. As for New Canaan, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Ridgefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Canaan, they will head out to face off against Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
