Softball Game Preview: Port Byron Panthers vs. Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights

The Port Byron Panthers will square off against the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port Byron will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Port Byron's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lyons by a score of 4-0.

The result came thanks to Jenna Jump's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mallory Mills was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Raelee McDowell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Frankfort-Schuyler, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Pulaski on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Maroon Knights considering their two-run performance the game before.

Port Byron's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Frankfort-Schuyler, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.
