Basketball Recap: Chandler Takes a Loss

Chandler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Basha Bears. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Chandler saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marley Perez went 6 of 9 to rack up 16 points and three steals. Perez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Hunter, who posted seven points along with five boards and three steals.

It was another big night for Amira Reynolds, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds for Basha. The dominant performance gave Reynolds a new career-high in points. Grace Beckler was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Chandler's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Basha, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Basha beat Chandler by a score of 67-46 on Friday.
