League recap: Gleason throws longest pass in league this season for Meadows

Fans got a thrill when Jacob Gleason and Conor Cheek connected against Mountain View Christian. The connection was good for 59 yards, the longest such play in III Southern this season.

The Saints' Ian Locke rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Meadows last week. Locke's team beat the Mustangs as he sprinted for 90 yards on the play and finished with 144 in all.

Locke was a passing and rushing force as Mike Valenzuela's team defeated Meadows. He completed 3 passes for 67 yards and also ran for 144 yards.

Gleason put up the best numbers in passing as Frank DeSantis' team lost to the Saints. He had a total of 10 completions for 119 yards. Gleason's favorite target this week was Cheek, who caught 2 passes for 65 yards.

Meadows' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gleason has thrown for 414 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Cheek has 7 catches for 120 yards.

The Mustangs' offense has recorded 123 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Agassi Prep has permitted only 38 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Agassi Prep takes on Meadows. Ben Fermon's team is in first place, while the Mustangs are in third place.

Mountain View Christian was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in III Southern. The Saints beat Meadows 27-21 earlier in the week.
