Texico hasn't had much luck against Santa Rosa recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolverines will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Texico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Texico turned things around against Loving on Tuesday. They skirted past the Falcons 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Elyjuh Ricketson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Texico's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 5-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Davalos, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Santa Rosa was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They blew past Estancia 16-9. Considering the Lions have won 14 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Joshua Cordova was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted four hits, the most he's had since April 3rd. Another player making a difference was Landyn Zamora, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Santa Rosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Santa Rosa's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Texico, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Texico hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Santa Rosa struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Texico couldn't quite get it done against Santa Rosa in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 7-2. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
