Basketball Recap: Sperry Comes Up Short

Sperry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 68-40 loss at the hands of the Dewey Bulldoggers. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Bulldoggers are ranked 49th).

Dewey was led to victory by Zach Renfroe and Kooper Crawford. Renfroe went 6-for-15 to rack up 23 points along with eight boards and seven assists, while Crawford dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Crawford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karson Johnson, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Sperry's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Dewey, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.

Sperry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-47 defeat against Davenport on the 21st. As for Dewey, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-35 win against Barnsdall on the 21st.
