Football Recap: Belleville East Sets Scoring Season-High Against West Aurora + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Belleville East had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 victory over the West Aurora Blackhawks. The Lancers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Belleville East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Ware, who rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Ware a new career-high. James Johnson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Belleville East didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trevon Smith and Johnson. Smith also made six total tackles, which is notable because Belleville East is undefeated when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Johnson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Several Blackhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryce Riley, who rushed for 125 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Lesroy Tittle was another key player, picking up 79 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

The win was the third in a row for Belleville East, bringing their record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for West Aurora, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Coming up, Belleville East will face off against Chicago Mt. Carmel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. West Aurora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
