Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for El Capitan

Atwater came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against El Capitan, but Anthony Jones wouldn't allow it. The El Capitan Gauchos came out on top against the Atwater Falcons by a score of 58-49 on Wednesday thanks in part to Jones, who went 10 of 16 on his way to 19 points and six boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Another player making a difference was Diego Ultreras, who posted 13 points. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.

The victory (which was El Capitan's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Atwater, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3.

El Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-52 win against Golden Valley on the 24th. As for Atwater, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-37 loss against Merced on the 24th.
