Recap: Carolina M Mustangs vs. Crossroads Christian Colts
After a string of three wins, the Carolina M Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 61-36 defeat at the hands of Crossroads Christian. Carolina M was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
When it comes to explaining why Carolina M lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abigail Faison. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Faison is trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Rivkah Lloyd, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Carolina M struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Crossroads Christian posted ten assists.
It was another big night for Elyssa Phillps, who scored 21 points along with five assists for Crossroads Christian. Laci Wade was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Carolina M's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Crossroads Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carolina M will square off against Emerson Waldorf at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crossroads Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Cape Fear Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cape Fear Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Crossroads Christian is ranked 160th).
