For the second straight game, Cheshire Academy will face off against Pomfret School. The Cats will host the Griffins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cheshire Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Cheshire Academy nor Pomfret School made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Cats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Griffins, sneaking past 2-1. The Cats haven't had any issues with the Griffins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

C.J. DiBenedetto looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Chase Mendela was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Conner Crosbie, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Pomfret School has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cheshire Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
