Softball Recap: West Wendover Takes a Loss

West Wendover had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it four. They came up short against the Oasis Academy Bighorns, falling 17-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bighorns this season, with their most recent loss being a 18-2 defeat on Saturday.

West Wendover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Aranda, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.

As for Oasis Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Oasis Academy's side, Shayana McNamer and Emma Lewis did most of the damage at the plate: McNamer went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Lewis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amberlyn Casey, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, West Wendover will be playing in front of their home fans against Incline at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Oasis Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
