Basketball Recap: West Holt Extends Winning Streak to Four

West Holt hadn't done well against Elgin/Pope John recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The West Holt Huskies managed a 50-45 win over the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 49-44 victory the Wolfpack walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Several Wolfpack players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kate Furstenau, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Kurpgeweit, who scored nine points.

The win was the fourth in a row for West Holt, bringing their record for this year to 12-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Elgin/Pope John, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-3.

Similarly, Elgin/Pope John (ranked 69th) will meet Central Valley (ranked 253rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
