Baseball Recap: Tulia Sets Scoring Season-High Against River Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tulia). They blew past the River Road Wildcats 20-10 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Roberto Martinez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Martinez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Jarvis Pestrana was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Tulia is undefeated when Pestrana posts two or more runs, but 3-7-1 otherwise. Zach Trevino was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Tulia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Tulia's victory bumped their record up to 14-7-1. As for River Road, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Tulia and River Road will both be playing Childress the next time they take the field. The Hornets will head out to face the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
