Softball Game Preview: Lancaster Eagles vs. La Canada Spartans

The Lancaster Eagles will take on the La Canada Spartans at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lancaster comes in on three and La Canada on nine.

Lancaster is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Mark Keppel. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 22nd.

Sam Salas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Salas was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Zinn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ashlee Laxamana was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, La Canada got themselves on the board against Wiseburn- Da Vinci on Thursday, but Wiseburn- Da Vinci never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Wolves. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

La Canada's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, their record is now 15-6.
