Volleyball Game Preview: O'Fallon Panthers vs. Edwardsville Tigers

O'Fallon is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Edwardsville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will host the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

O'Fallon is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Belleville East just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 2-0 to the Lancers. The shutout was out of character for the Panthers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

O'Fallon may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 20 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Edwardsville's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Belleville East by a score of 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Edwardsville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 21-25, 25-19.

O'Fallon will need to focus on slowing down Nicholas Paschall, one of several Edwardsville players who made an impact when they last played. He had 18 assists and five digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Marsh, who had 18 assists.

Edwardsville's defeat dropped their record down to 22-12. As for O'Fallon, their loss dropped their record down to 27-6.

O'Fallon beat Edwardsville 2-0 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
