Baseball Game Preview: Kickapoo Chiefs vs. Republic Tigers

The Kickapoo Chiefs will head out to take on the Republic Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kickapoo will be strutting in after a win while Republic will be coming in after a defeat.

Kickapoo came out on top against Waynesville on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Chiefs never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Republic fell victim to Neosho and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Kickapoo pushed their record up to 6-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Republic, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Kickapoo might still be hurting after the 16-6 defeat they got from Republic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
