Baseball Recap: Prospect Find Success

Prospect proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Live Oak Acorns. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 4-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kevin-Joseph Rieden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Prospect's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 7-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Rieden was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Kyle Pollace was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Prospect is 9-1 when Pollace posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Henry Little, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Prospect has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Live Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.

Prospect will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Acorns: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
