Baseball Recap: Duncan Wins Going Away Against Patagonia

Duncan had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Patagonia on Friday. Duncan put the hurt on Patagonia with a sharp 9-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildkats in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now won eight in a row.

Taygan Jensen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Jensen wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Harris, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Harris has posted since back in April of 2024. Guy Riedhead was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Duncan's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Patagonia, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duncan will take on Miami at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Miami has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.36 runs per game on average), something Duncan will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Patagonia, they will head out on the road to take on Ray at 3:45 p.m. on April 5.
