Recap: St. Johns Redskins vs. Hopi Bruins
In what's become a running theme this season, the St. Johns Redskins gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 57-23 victory over Hopi at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-14.
St. Johns had a senior duo take command as Josie Overson scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Elli Otto scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Overson has scored all season. Kayme Smith was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
St. Johns is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Hopi, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
St. Johns will head out on the road to face off against Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while St. Johns is ranked 25th). As for Hopi, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Round Valley at 6:00 p.m.
