Softball Game Preview: Isabella Mustangs vs. Central of Coosa County Cougars

The Isabella Mustangs will square off against the Central of Coosa County Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Isabella has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jemison hit Isabella with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell 13-10 to the Panthers.

Eliza Lovett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Natalie Smithermen was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Central of Coosa County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Randolph County, falling 21-5.

Isabella has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Central of Coosa County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Everything went Isabella's way against Central of Coosa County in their previous matchup back in March, as Isabella made off with a 13-3 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
