Basketball Recap: Braden River Extends Winning Streak to Three

Braden River entered their tilt with Northeast on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 79-67 victory over the Northeast Vikings. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 54-49 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Braden River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaron Fields, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and eight boards. Fields also grabbed eight steals, which is notable because Braden River is undefeated when he posts at least five steals, but 7-13 otherwise. Lawaiian Long was another key player, going 8 of 18 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Neven Vukovic, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Vukovic a new career-high in shooting accuracy (69%). Another player making a difference was Dominic Brown, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Braden River's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Northeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Braden River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-51 win against Venice on the 31st. As for Northeast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-36 loss against Clearwater on the 3rd.
