Basketball Recap: Stone Mountain Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Stone Mountain came into Wednesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over the North Clayton Eagles on Wednesday.

North Clayton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaquavius Cox, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Modou Fall, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

Stone Mountain's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for North Clayton, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stone Mountain will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cedar Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. North Clayton and Utopian Academy for the Arts will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. North Clayton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
