Softball Recap: Gregori Jaguars vs. Downey Knights
In what's become a running theme this season, Gregori gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Downey Knights an 11-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for Gregori as they're now sitting on four straight.
Kailey Estes made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Estes has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive pitching appearances. Estes was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kylee Huff was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Ariana Aguirre was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Gregori has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Downey, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
