Basketball Game Preview: Ash Fork Spartans vs. Red Mesa Redskins

Ash Fork is 0-4 against Red Mesa since December of 2014 but things could change on Saturday. The Ash Fork Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Red Mesa Redskins at 3:00 p.m. Red Mesa took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ash Fork, who comes in off a win.

Ash Fork will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Grand Canyon, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Ash Fork breezed by Grand Canyon to the tune of 57-21 on Friday. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Red Mesa lost to Rock Point at home by a 65-51 margin on Thursday.

Ash Fork will need focus on slowing down Shyla Pipkin, one of several Red Mesa players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. That's the most points Pipkin has posted since back in November of 2024. Ashley Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Ash Fork is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.2 points. As for Red Mesa, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12.

Ash Fork came up short against Red Mesa in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 49-43. Can Ash Fork avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
