La Salle is 9-1 against Cathedral since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lancers will look to defend their home field against the Phantoms at 3:15 p.m. The last five games La Salle has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Saturday, it was close, but La Salle sidestepped Temple City for a 2-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by just one run.

Nico Armendariz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Cathedral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 9-1 to St. Anthony. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Phantoms have suffered since April 1, 2024.

La Salle has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cathedral, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Everything went La Salle's way against Cathedral when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as La Salle made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Phantoms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
