Baseball Recap: Fairfax HomeSchool Gets the Win

While Fairfax HomeSchool's win against Avalon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Avalon Black Knights on Saturday. With that win, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Josh Radmore made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting four hits from his four at bats.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylen Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Jaren Shafford was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Fairfax HomeSchool was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.

Fairfax HomeSchool's record now sits at 3-1. As for Avalon, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-3.

Fairfax HomeSchool will have a chance to go back-to-back against Avalon: the pair will be back at it again later today.
