Baseball Recap: Bayfield Takes a Loss

Bayfield couldn't beat Montezuma-Cortez on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Wolverines came up short against the Panthers, falling 14-4. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Josiah Mayfield made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavian Box, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Panthers beat Bayfield by a score of 15-5 later that day.
