Central came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They escaped with a win against the Jonesboro Cardinals by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-57 back in January.

Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Khaven Cochran led the charge by going 8 for 14 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and three steals. The matchup was Cochran's third in a row with at least ten points. Connor Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 rebounds and 11 blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Jonesboro lost, don't look at Cortez Redding. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Redding has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tim Prather, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. As for Jonesboro, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-22 victory against Northside on the 31st. Jonesboro has also already played their next contest, a 61-50 win against Starr's Mill on the 31st.
