Softball Recap: Concord Spiders vs. A.L. Brown Wonders
Concord lost against A.L. Brown back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Spiders fell just short of the Wonders by a score of 6-5. The Spiders just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
Alexa Hooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, McKinley Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Peighton Porter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Concord now has a losing record of 8-9. As for A.L. Brown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season.
Concord will head out on the road to square off against Robinson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spiders are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for A.L. Brown, they will be playing at home against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
