Basketball Recap: Gertz-Ressler Takes a Loss

Gertz-Ressler played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 91-22 loss at the hands of the Animo Robinson Monarchs. The Pumas were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 70-12.

Animo Robinson found their leader in sophomore Deandre Kirkpatrick, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten boards. Kirkpatrick has become a key player for Animo Robinson: the team is 10-4 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Roger Shackelford, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 11 assists, and nine steals.

Gertz-Ressler's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Animo Robinson, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-10.

Gertz-Ressler will face off against New Designs University Park at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Animo Robinson, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Esperanza College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Animo Robinson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.
