Baseball Recap: Newton Falls Has No Trouble Against Crestview

Newton Falls had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Crestview Rebels 11-1 on Monday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cameron Huff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Newton Falls is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Huff was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ethan Powell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leland Vargo, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Newton Falls' win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Crestview, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Newton Falls will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rebels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
