Basketball Recap: Cascade Makes It Ten in a Row on the Road

Cascade extended their road winning streak to ten games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Chloe Smith. The Cascade Cadets enjoyed a cozy 57-42 victory over the Owen Valley Patriots on Tuesday thanks in part to Smith, who went 9 for 18 on her way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Those 24 points gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hall, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played.

Despite the defeat, Owen Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aubrey Sparks dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Mallory Owen, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Cascade's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Owen Valley, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Cascade wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-47 defeat against Mooresville on the 12th. As for Owen Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-34 victory against Indian Creek on the 6th.
