ALABASTER, Ala. - A big 40-point second quarter helped carry the Lightning to a 69-0 victory over Evangel Family Christian Academy (Montgomery, Ala.) on Saturday.
Evangel Christian scored on a rushing touchdown, a touchdown catch by
Pete Sullivan, a passing touchdown, a touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Nate Scott and a rushing touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, EC was up 54-0 at the half.
The Alabaster school grew its lead to 66 points entering the fourth quarter. The Lightning scored two times in the third, including once on a
Mason Murphy touchdown run.
With the win Evangel Christian extended its winning streak to six games. Evangel Christian defeated North River Christian 55-0 last week.
EC had given up an average of 6.2 points prior to the contest.
The loss comes after Evangel Family Christian Academy defeated North River Christian 49-28 last week.
In a non-conference game next week Evangel Christian (6-0) takes on Ezekiel Academy, and Evangel Family Christian Academy (1-6) will go up against North River Christian also in a non-conference game.
