Softball Recap: South Point Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Point waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Lincolnton Wolves 18-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 two weeks ago.

Stella Absher was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cailey Evans was incredible, scoring four runs while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylyn Ledford, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.

South Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .462 or higher in three consecutive contests.

South Point's record now sits at 5-3. As for Lincolnton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

South Point has already played their next game, a 14-6 victory against North Gaston on the 28th. As for Lincolnton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 22-8 win against Newton-Conover on the 28th.
