Softball Recap: Winthrop Takes a Loss

Winthrop had taken Oak Hill down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Ramblers lost 15-8 to the Raiders. The Ramblers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Winthrop dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.3 runs this season. As for Oak Hill, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winthrop will head out to challenge Hall-Dale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ramblers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Oak Hill, they will venture away from home to take on Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Roadrunners at the right time seeing as the Roadrunners are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
