Basketball Recap: Fairhaven Comes Up Short

Fairhaven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders. The Blue Devils lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 86-20 score last time.

Somerset Berkley Regional can attribute much of their success to Makenzie Pires, who posted 20 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Pires a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sarah Costa, who had four points and ten rebounds.

Fairhaven's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Somerset Berkley Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Coming up, Fairhaven is taking a road trip to challenge Bristol-Plymouth RVT at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Somerset Berkley Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Stang at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
