Baseball Recap: Abington Heights Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Abington Heights won the last time they faced West Scranton and things went their way on Sunday too. The Comets blew past the Invaders 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Harshal Patel tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Nick Bradley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Conner Abel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Abington Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matchups.

Abington Heights pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for West Scranton, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Abington Heights will face off against rival North Pocono at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Comets 2.8, the Trojans 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, West Scranton is set to square off against their familiar foe Scranton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
