Baseball Game Preview: Azle Hornets vs. Aledo Bearcats

Azle is 1-9 against Aledo since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. The last four games Azle has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Azle didn't have quite enough to beat Brewer and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Aledo won against Granbury on Tuesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 7-1 win. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Devin Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Blake Burdine was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Azle's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Aledo, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.

Azle couldn't quite get it done against Aledo when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
