Basketball Recap: Chincoteague Comes Up Short

Chincoteague played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Northampton Yellowjackets, falling 71-45. The Ponies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-21.

Despite the loss, Chincoteague still got an impressive performance from Camaury Davis, who posted 14 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Byron Hurst, who put up ten points.

Northampton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malique Collins out in front who went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Those six steals gave Collins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Antoine Horsley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Chincoteague and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Northampton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chincoteague won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holly Grove Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northampton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nandua at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northampton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.7 points per game this season.
