Basketball Recap: Walnut Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Walnut won the last time they faced Wilson, and Jeremiah Vasquez did his part to make sure it happened again. The Walnut Mustangs took down the Wilson Wildcats 66-49 on Saturday thanks in part to Vasquez, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Wilson still got an impressive performance from Tyler Wong, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Shigamora, who posted nine points and five steals.

Walnut is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Wilson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Walnut wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-43 victory against Ayala on the 7th. As for Wilson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-59 win against Charter Oak on the 7th.
