Softball Recap: Salem Hills Takes Down Ranked Maple Mountain

Salem Hills faced Maple Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Skyhawks came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 4-0. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Maple Mountain's batters probably weren't too happy with Jocile Norman, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks). Norman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emmery Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Guest, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Salem Hills pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Maple Mountain, they moved to 14-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Salem Hills will look to defend their home field on Monday against Wasatch at 3:30 p.m. As for Maple Mountain, they will head out on the road to take on Timpview at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
