Softball Recap: Lower Moreland Comes Up Short

Lower Moreland lost against Springfield Township back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Lower Moreland fell 6-2 to Springfield Township.

Maddie Menchhofer was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Menchhofer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Izzy O'Brien, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jordyn MacPhee also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lower Moreland dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Springfield Township, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

We've got a battle between Lions coming up. As for Springfield Township, they will challenge Bensalem at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
