Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Cross

Cross hadn't done well against Scott's Branch recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cross Trojans walked away with a 59-47 victory over the Scott's Branch Eagles. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Eagles are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win (which was Cross' fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points over those games. As for Scott's Branch, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Looking ahead, Cross will venture away from home to face off against Palmetto Scholars Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Scott's Branch, they will welcome Lowcountry Leadership at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
