Basketball Recap: Mount De Sales Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Payton Latimer and Kenzie Jordan

Mount de Sales Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the First Presbyterian Day Vikings. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-34 on January 7th.

Mount de Sales Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenzie Jordan, who posted seven points along with 15 rebounds and three steals, and Payton Latimer, who put up eight points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Jordan a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mount de Sales Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

Mount de Sales Academy's record is now 8-10. As for First Presbyterian Day, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Piedmont Academy the next time they take the court. Mount de Sales Academy will host Piedmont Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while First Presbyterian Day will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
